She's cool

Leanna Blevins, Ph.D., is the Assistant Vice President for Health Sciences and Technology Education at Virginia Tech. Based in Roanoke at the Health Sciences and Technology campus, she oversees academic and support programs and leads the development of future programs. She is the site PI for Virginia Tech - Carilion Scholars program for early career faculty as part of the partnership in the integrated Translational Health Research Institute of Virginia (iTHRIV), the cross state collaborative NIH-NCATS funded Clinical & Translational Science (CTSA) program.

Blevins’s research focuses on rural communities and their access to and persistence in public higher education and the related topics of health disparities. As a first generation college graduate, she is passionate about policy development and advocacy work toward enabling better educational attainment for all underserved individuals and populations.

Blevins has served in various administrative and leadership positions in higher education and has served on state and national boards. Blevins earned a Ph.D. and M.Ed. from the University of Virginia and a BA from Virginia Tech.

Blevins considers it an honor to serve the RGSA as faculty co-advisor.
