Resources for Roanoke Students (VT-Graduate School)
Virginia Tech students on the Roanoke Health Sciences and Technology (HS&T) Campus are vital members of the Virginia Tech community. We are committed to providing you the support and services you need and helping you connect with fellow students, faculty members, and staff as a welcoming and inclusive Virginia Tech community. Historically, Roanoke students have not had access to in-person services the way Blacksburg students have. Because of RGSA’s work, this is changing. Roanoke students will now have the following in-person services available at the HS&T Campus
Dr. Joe Frieban, psychiatrist from Cook Counseling, is available every Monday from 8 am – 5 pm. Appointments can be made by scheduling through Cook Connect or through Dr. Jennifer Slusher, who will continue to offer counseling services as she has done in the past. Cook Connect
Dr. Bing – LGBTQ+ Resource Center Director (First Friday of every month)
The LGBTQ+ Resource Center aims to advance, through education and advocacy, the rights and well-being of all Virginia Tech LGBTQ+ communities locally, across the Commonwealth of Virginia, and around the globe. We work to provide space, acknowledge and celebrate intersectionality, cultivate leadership, and engage in activism in the spirit of Ut Prosim.

Bryan Hanson – Graduate Ombudsperson (First Wednesday of every month)
You can contact the Ombudsperson about any issue related to your experience as a member of the Graduate School community.
Need someone to listen to you on a confidential basis
Need information about policies or procedures
Believe you have been treated unfairly and want to know what options are available
Are facing a difficult decision and are not sure what options are available
Want advice about strategies to resolve a conflict
Need an impartial perspective about your situation by a person with expertise in conflict resolution
Want help communicating with another individual or group of people
Want support resolving a conflict by a facilitated meeting or mediation
Want to retain control over how your concern is handled

El Centro is the Cultural and Community Center for the Latinx community at Virginia Tech. This is a support space for all the people that identify themselves as Latinos or Hispanos, for the people interested in our culture, and for all our allies.

Nina Ha – Asian Cultural Engagement Center Director (not in the calendar yet, but committed and will be booked soon!)
The Asian Cultural Engagement Center (ACEC) is a division of the Cultural and Community Centers under the Virginia Tech Office for Inclusion and Diversity. The ACEC’s mission is to advocate for the Asian Pacific Islander Desi American (APIDA) communities, including Virginia Tech faculty, staff, students, and alumni. We also aim to educate the campus community on issues centered around or related to our communities. All members of the campus and local community are welcome in the ACEC and can participate in the ACEC’s events, programs, and activities.
