Cook Counseling

Heather Morrow, M.A., CMHC, NCC, works at the Virginia Tech-Carilion Health Sciences and Technology campus in Roanoke.  She is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and offers confidential, compassionate, and student-centered counseling that supports students' academic, personal, and professional journey. Services include mental health care for stress, anxiety, burnout, and imposter syndrome; academic and career guidance for managing workloads and transitions; personal support for family, financial, and identity-related challenges; and crisis intervention with referrals to campus and community resources.

Joseph Frieben is a psychiatrist at Cook Counseling Center. He earned his medical degree from the University of Rochester and his residency in psychiatry was completed at the University of Wisconsin and the University of Virginia.

Frieben is board certified in psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.

He joined the Cook Counseling Center staff in 2005 and enjoys treating the diverse array of problems and concerns seen in a university counseling center, with a particular interest in mood disorders.
